Beetle Racers at the Porsche Club Super Sprint 15th of May held at Oran Park I have not been to an event of that nature for quite some time and was really impressed with the format, organisation and level of competition on the day The 10 minute timed sectors seem to be an ideal way to get dialled into both the track and the car and gives a real opportunity to asses how any modification done to the car can improve on lap times . Although I was only able to stay long enough to view one of the session involving the Beetle Boys I would have to give a huge wrap to the young Deiter Hölzl. For some one as young as he is and only having his third outing at a Super Sprint I was impressed with his display of controlled aggression by the way he attacked the corners. I was spectating from what was the old Suttons ( you would know it if you were there in the 80's ) and his green "S" Bug had attitude both entering and exiting the corner. I don't want to get on to a soap box but if we had more young guys and girls out on the track improving and developing their driving skills then perhaps we would eventually improve the abysmal level of driving standards on Australian roads and the high level of policing it attracts. As a final tip , if you want to get noticed , get side ways , but do it where every one else is going in the same direction. |
